Master of Human Rights at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg
The M.A. Human Rights addresses the growing importance of human rights in all areas of society and in academia. The course program covers fundamental challenges as well as current issues. It pursues an interdisciplinary approach by taking the political, philosophical and legal dimensions of human rights into account. Graduates will be equipped with theoretical and practical skills to pursue professional activities in human rights contexts.
The M.A. Human Rights welcomes students from all over the world. It is open to students with a university degree and professional experiences in human rights or in combination with practical experiences in human rights.
Students could work as practitioners in public administrations, international and non-governmental organizations, the media, interest groups and associations, as well as in specialized law firms and corporations.
Structure
The program consists of three semesters with a total of 90 ECTS. In the first semester, all students will enroll in three compulsory modules. In the second semester, students will participate in a compulsory, interdisciplinary module on non-discrimination and may elect four out of eight special modules. The third semester is entirely devoted to the master thesis.
The modules are taught by the program directors, other professors of the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg and leading practitioners from various fields and organizations in human rights. All courses are taught in English.

Zielgruppe/Voraussetzungen
Voraussetzungen
Admission to the Master in Human Rights program requires:
- a university degree based on a course of study which contained 210 ECTS
- and at least one year of professional experience in the area of human rights
- or in combination with practical experience in human rights work on a volunteer basis
- Command of English at level C1 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
